Local Buses in St. Lucia
A view across spectacular Soufriere Bay.
Local transport 14-seat buses with green license plates beginning with ‘M’ are also available for use by visitors. The buses do not operate directly from the airports and generally are not convenient for carrying luggage but can be a useful and very inexpensive way to get around while visiting. Rates are set and the buses are regulated by the government.
It should be noted that while some of the buses operating on busier set routes do so on a very regular and frequent schedule, others on less busy routes are much less reliable. The most frequent and reliable buses display signs for ‘Route 1A’ and operate between Castries and Gros Islet Village. These buses can be convenient for guests staying in the Rodney Bay area.
Anyone wishing to use the local transport buses should obtain specific information from your place of accommodation.
