St. Lucia Immigration and Customs

Just another beautiful Saint Lucian sunset!

Passports are required to enter Saint Lucia except for citizens of the countries of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Canada and the United States. However, it should be noted that travel requirement policies frequently change and most countries, including Canada and the United States, now require a passport for re-entry.

Travelers should verify the applicable requirements for their countries (see Visa Requirements). Visitors must also possess a return or onward ticket.

Upon entering the country, a visitor is given a maximum of 6 weeks to remain on the island. Prior to the expiration of this deadline and/or in the event the visitor plans to stay longer, a further extension may be granted after an application is made to the Immigration Department. The extension granted will be discretionary, based on responses given in an interview conducted by an Immigration Officer.

EXTENDING YOUR STAY

An extension may be requested by application to the Immigration department. The extension granted is discretionary based on the provision of required documents and responses given in an interview conducted by an Immigration Officer.

The operating hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 12 noon and 1:30pm to 3pm.

Requirement for Extension of Stay:

  • Return ticket
  • One passport size photo
  • Valid passport
  • Receipt of payment or Host person

Please note the following:

  • Cost $200 EC for each 30 day extension.
  • The request for an extension should be made to the immigration office prior to the expiration of time allowed in Saint Lucia.
  • Decisions are made at the time of the interview.

All vessels arriving in Saint Lucia must report at one of the ports of entry:

  • Castries
  • Rodney Bay
  • Marigot Bay
  • Soufriere
  • Vieux Fort

The master of the vessel must report directly to Customs & Immigration; passengers must not disembark until the master of the vessel has cleared Customs where the following documents must be presented:

  • A valid passport for all passengers and crew
  • Clearance from the last port of departure
  • Vessel registration documents

Upon arrival, you are required to notify Customs & Immigration officials of your intent to visit other ports or mooring areas on the island. A permit will be given for this purpose. Saint Luciaโ€™s Immigration policy allows for stays of up to 42 days.

We advise requesting the maximum length of time you can conceive of staying at your initial report to Immigration to avoid the inconvenience of later having to apply for an extension at the Immigration office in Castries.
